Over 30 Years As An Interventionist

With a reputation stretching back to 1986, David Christopher has become widely accepted as San Diego’s preeminent intervention specialist. He has guided and supported thousands of families as they learn to deal with alcoholism and the full spectrum of today’s addictive disorders. His combination of forty years working in the field of mental health, thirty years as an interventionist and twenty-five years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, positions him as one of the most skilled interventionists in the field.

Hiring a skilled and deeply experienced interventionist is critical for what is one of the most important events in your family’s life. Few intervention specialists today can honestly claim providing interventions to hundreds of families, much less thousands. This requires a consistent devotion to work that spans decades. Having worked as the lead interventionist for the prestigious Scripps Memorial Hospital McDonald Center for several years in the 1980’s, it was common to have three or more interventions in process every week. This working relationship continued into the 1990’s when Mr. Christopher began his private practice as a licensed therapist – where he has continued to offer intervention services for twenty-five years. As a result, he is one of a select few interventionists in the world who has provided well in excess of a thousand interventions. In addition, he often works with clients that experience mood disorders (anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder), post traumatic stress disorder, and a wide range of attachment issues.

As a pioneer in the field, Mr. Christopher provided national level trainings together with Dr. Vernon Johnson, known as the Father of intervention, training clinicians and therapists on the principles of clinical intervention. He also consulted on the nationally acclaimed intervention training film, “Intervention: Help is at Hand” which won first place at the National Council on Family Relations and Medial Awards Competition.
